Mail app on FP4 not usable, as being deactivated without option to reactivate

Dear community,

My wifes FP4 runs on /e/ os from the very beginning, as it was bought from Murena webshop.

She has been using a third party email app for a few years and now wants to move to use the on board /e/ OS Mail app.

The mail app does not appear in the drawer and in the settings/ apps menu the app is located in the unused app menu. Contrary to what one would expect, it can’t be reactivated, but all is greyed out.

The app was never used before, but not deactivated deliberately either. Ad there is no Murena account connected to the phone a question is, if that could that be the reason?

Any idea would be appreciated,

Best regards, Ernst

I have the same device, from Murena, and my mail app works OK, so I’m not sure how much help I’ll be. I did notice a note at the bottom that mentions an app not being used for a long time, and what happens. I assume your screenshot looks different?

Have you tried going into the Settings - Apps, tapping that unysed app, and seeing if you could manually add permission back?

Something else you could try is using K-9 Mail. I believe the default mail app is a fork of that. I had a mail issue once back around 1.7 or so, and used K-9 as a work-around.

Hi Xancudo,

Here is the screenshot:

And yes, I already tried to reactivate the app without success.
When I tap onto the app ther, I get to this:

So there is no option for using it.

Thanks an best regards

Ernst

If you scroll down on the Mail app, do you see an option “Pause App activity if unused” and can you turn that off to see if it removes the app from the list? In my screenshot above, my Recorder was an unused app. I flipped that setting off and it removed the app from the Unsed list. Just curious what you mail app might do.

Hi, yes, there is such an option, yet there unfortunately there is no influence on my issue. BR, Ernst
