hello, I am using the mail application on FP5 with the murena.io email address. My emails are fetched only when I manually trigger the synchronization from the app (with swipe down), but they are never fetched automatically in the background (when I open the app only old emails are visible). I tried re-setting the options of synchronisation periodicity and allowing the app to run in the background (both in the app and in the phone settings), but none of these helped. Anyone experiencing the same problem?
Ps I also tried the Thunderbird app but it has the same problem. Thunderbird seems to synchronize after a long delay.
Did you switch OFF the automatic synchronization in the Mail settings? There’s a general option: General settings | Network | Background sync. When you don’t use the push mechanism this option must be ON.
Then there are also account based settings in the Mail app under Fetching mail. You can specify in which interval the synchronization happens (Sync messages from) and also what maximum size of messages should be downloaded (Fetch messages up to). Depending on these settings the synchronization can be very slow or can exclude a lot of stuff, so you think it doesn’t happen.
Then it’s possible that you switched the automatic polling OFF by intention because you want to use the push mechanism (also called IMAP IDLE). When the push mechanism doesn’t work the most common problem is that your keep alive interval is too short. This setting is account based: Fetching mail | Advanced | Refresh IDLE connection - the value of this option depends on the server. When the value is too big the mail server forgets the device and doesn’t send push notifications anymore. This value must be big enough but not bigger than the server wants it. Set it to 24min, when this doesn’t work try 12min.
