Making Samsung Galaxy S10/S10+ official build, since S20FE 4G is out of the game

Hi,
since LineAge OS devs stopped dev the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, which was the last 4G Smartphone by Samsung, why is the e. foundation not after making the last one, which is the Samsung Galaxy S10+ making an official build? but instead the S9 and S9+.
I see no reason (saying as a newbie on this area having no knowledge if its possible or not) why this is not forced by murena or the community itself.

Would be interested in what are the reasons behind it.
All the best, good sunday.

Just checking:
Are you aware that Samsungs lose the ability to use VoLTE (4G/LTE calling protocol) for phone calls if the stock OS is replaced by a custom ROM? If the mobile service networks in your country require VoLTE, due to 3G and 2G networks having been shut down, then a Samsung running a custom ROM will have no fallback communications network, and will not be able to make or receive calls.

For this reason, it doesn’t make much sense for Murena to develop for Samsungs, in my opinion. They still seem to be doing so, however.

Well, “for the moment”, - time is not linear - ,Telekom plans to shut down 2g in 2028 and Vodafone in 2030.
Still some years…and about the VoLTE Issue i have to inform myself why this is so important.
Then i would see no reason, why any alternative OS creator who cannot provide it by nature offers anything for a specific phone at all. Thanks for the information.

Cool. If you continue to have adequate 2G coverage in your area(s), then you should be OK even with a Samsung running a custom ROM (and without VoLTE) for a while. If you hope to use it outside your home country, then that might be a problem, given that different countries have announced different shutdown schedules. (The linked article may or may not be up to date, as various carriers have altered their plans over the last year or so.)

@Taurus is it such a big issue to implement this on ones own? like it’s closed source to the heck?
If one could fake the google services why not VO-LTE? I’m just curious.

Apparently, yes.

That’s outside my realm of knowledge, unfortunately. But actually, it’s not like a customer could fake it with the phone company. They have their VoLTE “network,” (for lack of a better word), and you’re either on it or you’re not.
