I wonder which of my Murena accounts is connected to the Maps app (Magic Earth fork). I couldn’t find any indication of the connected account inside the app. The in-app help mentions that Magic Earth requires a login and account.
I also wonder whether there is a map web interface connected to the same account. Occasionally, I plan routes on a laptop (more screen space, easier route refinement) and then use the saved route on my phone. In the past I used Google Maps; currently I use Mapy.com.
Additionally, how does history and data persistence work after a system reinstall or device wipe? If I reinstall the app and log in again, will my saved/favourite places, routes, and history be restored?
What version number of the app do you have installed? Have you updated it through App Lounge or Aurora Store? If so you may now have the subscription-based version rather than the older version that comes bundled with /e/os.
The answers to your other questions depend somewhat on that.
Edit: I’ve just looked on my phone and see that under Support > Tips & Tricks there’s reference to accounts even though this is not needed for the /e/os bundled version, so assuming that you haven’t updated to the subscription version I’ve added further comments below.
Further comments assuming non-subscription version:
You don’t need an account, either Murena or Magic Earth for it to work.
Favourites, History & Routes will be lost on a system reinstall. You will not need to reinstall Maps, the non-subscription version comes bundled with /e/os.
You can backup Favourites first using the Share icon at the top of the Favourites screen.
To restore Favourites you need to open the Files app, long press on the saved favourites file then, in the 3-dot menu in the top right of the screen, select ‘Open with’ and select Maps / Magic Earth.
You used to be able to backup & restore History & Routes by copying files from / back into the relevant Android directory, but with newer versions of Android copying back in doesn’t work.
The History file is in Android/data/com.generalmagic.magicearth/files/download/MAGICEARTH/Data/Landmarks.
Routes are saved, from memory, in Android/data/com.generalmagic.magicearth/files/download/MAGICEARTH/Data/Trips
I don’t know of any web interface such as you’ve described.
