The voice output of Murena Maps always (!) comes from the built-in loudspeaker of the phone, even if for instance, my car is linked by Bluetooth. It’s a Toyota Prius (2nd gen), so it does not use Android Auto, but connects to phones with a plain headset profile.
This is the latest version of Maps on Murena 3.6 on my new Fairphone 6. Previously I used Osmand on Fairphone Open OS, which is also an AOSP Android, Android 10.2 to be precise.
And Osmand talks (with human voices) through the speakers of the car, as it should be…
This might already be resolved, I did not find the entry to use Bluetooth in the settings menu “Sounds” which was misleadingly translated into “Töne” in German. There Bluetooth calling can be activated, which is the method Osmand uses to talk through a handsfree car interface.
Sadly no, this “feature” is dysfuntional, at least with my Toyota Prius, second generation. No announcements come from the car’s speakers. And to make matters even worse: When BT is activted, Maps won’t even talk through the phone’s speaker as well. I reported both findings as bugs to the developers.
But, surprise: The first thing they tell me that my Maps in /e/ OS is really outdated, from 2024. But App Lounge does not offer any updates. Developers will look into that matter, too.
