Merlin Bird App - Still

Hi

I’m still having issues with Merlin Bird App not recording sound id.

Open the app, press the record button.

The location and microphone icons flash up and it seems to work. The spectrogram does not display

I see that szakib reporting the issue fixed in 3.2, I’ve updated to 3.3 but still not working

3.3-a15-20251210556408-official-FP5

Anything I need to do

Thanks and regards

Dominic

I should also say that the sound does not record.

I have downloaded bird net and that seems to work OK. Just it’s not as nice an app

Thanks

Hi,

Same problem here, with FP5 and /e/OS 3.4. I actually always had this problem (even with v3.3 when I saw it was fixed for FP5, or even for previous /e/OS version like v2).

I hope a fix can be found at some point.

Best

The spectrogram does not display

I see that szakib reporting the issue fixed in 3.2

linking that feedback for backref - Merlin bird app Sound ID does not work under /e/OS - #27 by szakib

I’d love to compare FP5 to FP4 behaviour on this, can any FP4 with v3.5 (!) owner try if Merlin records and shows a spectrogam?

Just tried on my FP6 on /e/OS 3.5 with the following youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-20OLZpafQ

It recognized a Carrion Crow

I’m now on 3.5 on my fp5 but still no spectogram

Thanks and regards

Dominic

@LostSole Can you try a recording again and create a bug report following this documentation Capture a debug information from /e/OS

and send it to jonathan.klee@e.email

thanks for checking it out. my idea comparing FP4 to FP5 came from this thread - FP4: configs: Disable Stereo support for voip (!78) · Merge requests · e / devices / android_device_fairphone_FP4 · GitLab - if the FP4 can draw the spectogram, maybe a hint to input channels

I hope the log file I sent helped

Regards

Dominic
