Message app makes no sound notification

I’m using a terracube 2e with the 1.0 OS. The settings I can find show that messages should notify me with a sound, I get no sound.

Not only do i get no sound notification when someone leaves a voicemail. I don’t even get a notification that someone left a message. I have upgraded from e os 1 to 1.1 to 1.2 the problem continues.
