I tried it by opening in Vivaldi with VPN on. I was indeed redirected to fill in the mit-ID in a mobilepay site, but after completing the check I was still redirected to vipps and nothing happened as usual. I used Vivaldi and ProtonVPN.

What up nerds. I’ve managed to fix this one. 
Get the Aurora Store from the App Lounge. Then use that for a manual download of Mobilepay. I picked version 10.5.0 and logged right in.
Unfortunately though, swipe to pay still seems broken.

MobilePay got back to me, essentially saying I’m SOL using /e/OS and microG. They did however link the article below in their reply and I’m not sure when it’s been added in their FAQ:
The articel states MobilePay works with certain conditions with GrapheneOS but since I’m not running GOS it doesn’t do much for me. It seems they’re seeing the complaints by addressing the issue.

We want to be clear that we are not opposed in principle to de-Googled devices. The challenge is that, in practice, it is demanding to ensure both broad device support and compliance with the requirements we are bound by.
If Murena could be persuaded to adopt alternative attestation it might be possible to reach a compromise. A suggestion here Apps with SMS Authetification will not work - #4 by aibd

I believe our best bet is to push for both Murena and Banks/public sector to implement Unified Attestation https://uattest.net/ in their apps. At least that’s what I have suggested to my bank.

I just returned from summer holiday today and first thing updated OS to version 4.1.1-a16-20260717651034-official-FP6 which still fails basic Play integrity API by the way. MobilePay is also the most recent version 10.32.0 which still doesn’t let me enter when using the open in browser, Vivaldi in my case. However the app now prompts me with red text saying that my phone might be modified 
Did anyone else try the older version @Anips suggested? I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to walk down that road and fall into the nerd trap

I did try that approach and was indeed able to make a test payment. In the end In decided not to follow that approach, because for money-related sofware in particular, running old versions is a security risk, I expect it to fail after some days like old versions did, and also the remote backend will most probably someday become incompatible with these versions. Also, after MobilePay broke itself for me, I have found out I do not actually need it. I can transfer money to family members with other apps like Siirto, and if some merchant only accepts MobilePay, I explain that it does not work on my phone and move on and purchase from somebody else instead. So I do not have much motivation to follow workarounds.

I Denmark there is unfortunately no alternative to MobilePay like Siirto. I basically switched back to making bank account transfers, which is actually working fine, when you get over the hurdles to ask people for their account numbers. Paying in shops I use cash or payment cards, I still haven’t figured out a solution for contactless payment on my FP6, on the info I can find, it looks like Curve is the only option, but I haven’t tried that yet, since I prefer to use my national card (Dankort) when paying in local shops. I believe Curve will use the Visa/MasterCard part of the combocards we have in Denmark.
Since Vipps/MobilePay is a part of the European Wero project, it will be interesting to see if that will be more alternative OS friendly or not for the Nordic users.
I decided I will soon send a fresh email complaint to MobilePay, I think it is relevant, since they made a change from worse to completely broken, I don’t even have access to my profile/account anymore. So when the cards linked to the account is outdated, I will not be able to replace them, and the last working function to receive payments will also be lost. I hope they slowly will change their mindset, if we keep on complaining

Amazing work @Bettina May a use some bits and pieces from in in my own upcoming complaint?
It is almost funny, that if the Dutch poll result was similar in Denmark, and the 2 % limit was in effect, not only would MobilePay be required to support /e/OS but also LineageOS and GrapheneOS (and probably also Sailfish in near future). They are just hiding behind that there is no data available and lying when confronted - doh!

I didn’t read through the entire thread but just wanted to drop in because I see @Bettina mentioned not being able to make MobilePay “forget” brave as the browser used in authentication. On my phone it seems like it isn’t using my default browser or any browser configured in the app but rather the first option in an alphabetical list of installed browsers. I now it sounds unbelievably stupid, but I have no better explanation.

That’s hilarious if it’s true! Especially as no other app does that… (not that I have noticed).
As the browser isn’t the problem, I won’t uninstall Brave, but if I find a browser starting with A, I might test it…
Adblock Browser maybe?

I tried Adblock browser but MobilePay still chose Brave, also after I deleted MobilePay and reinstalled it. But thanks for the suggestions @JohanOlsen and @MRTN

I have no idea if that’s relevant but some websites don’t like VPN but when you switch Proton VPN to anti-censorhip mode (stealth protocol) they work. It may not help here, just an observation.
