Motorola Edge 30 flash dtbo failure

I have been following these instructions (https://doc.e.foundation/devices/dubai/install) trying to get /e/os installed on a Motorola Edge 30 and have run into a snag at Step 3 of the Flashing additional partitions section. When I run the command I get the following error:

fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img
Warning: skip copying dtbo_a image avb footer (dtbo_a partition size: 8388608, dtbo_a image size: 25165824).
Sending 'dtbo_a' (24576 KB) OKAY [ 0.521s]
Writing 'dtbo_a' (bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote: '')
fastboot: error: Command failed

Preceding this, all steps were going smoothly and I was able to successfully unlock the bootloader. Does anybody have advice on how to proceed?

Just a thought … did you already check

fastboot --version

… as it is mentioned in a Tip.

I guess you double checked the source / download of the dtbo.img which you are using ?

I do notice that https://mirror.math.princeton.edu/pub/lineageos/full/dubai/20230817/ contains files from a Lineage20 build while you are installing Android 12 (S).

Android OS version	10	11	12	13
Android name Q	R	S	T
LineageOS 17	18	19	20
/e/OS build names	q	r	s	t

There is an explanation here OnePlus - 9 Pro - lemonadep - Documentation Suggestions - #8 by bofh666 of how you could produce dtbo.img from the ROM you are intending to install.
