Motorola Moto E (2020) request

Hi. I just bought the Motorola Moto E (2020). Is it or could it become possible please to install to /e/ on this device? Thank you. Very much appreciated.

Hi, it does not seem to be possible at the moment.
This phone is new and has not been much tinkered with and it seems you cannot even install TWRP at the moment.
When TWRP and Lineage roms are available, you’ll have some choices:

  • If the device gets lots of requests, there should be an official /e/ build available.
  • If /e/ doesn’t officiallly support it, you might find an unofficial build or build one yourself.
  • If your phone is compatible with Project Treble, you may be able to flash a generic system image (GSI) on it.

It takes generally a while before new phones are able to be degoogled.

Sounds good. I appreciate it. Thank you. In your opinion, do you think it’s likely to become possible at some point in 2021 or am I probably better off just getting a different phone?

You’re welcome.
I honestly don’t know as it seems to depend mainly on the popularity of the phone/who is working on it. I’m kind of in the same boat as my G4 Plus’ support will be dropped by /e/ in a few days/months and the G8 Power I recently got for an amazing price is not yet supported and I don’t know whether it will ever be (there are unofficial LineageOS roms available at the moment but it looks like some stuff is broken with it).

Latest is not the greatest when it comes to degoogling phones (except for niche phones like the FairPhone). It requires a bit of patience.
