I believe the problem is the phone is not unlocked. I bought the phone advertised as unlocked and assumed such. However, I saw OEM unlocking wasn’t enabled in System/Developer options. But after enabled that the phone didn’t boot as unlocked.
Unfortunately, after generating the Device ID string I received ‘Your device does not quality for bootloader unlocking.’
Now type the following command to get the bootloader status:
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
Tip: Some newer Motorola devices have a waiting period before you can enable OEM Unlock option in the developer options. It can sometimes take up to one week.
Follow the instructions at Motorola Support to unlock your bootloader.
Since the device resets completely, you will need to re-enable USB debugging to continue.
Tip: If your device is not supported by the Motorola Bootloader Unlock website, you may be able to use an alternative bootloader unlock method like SunShine, though they only support some devices/firmwares.
I followed the documentation referenced which is how I received “Your device does not quality for bootloader unlocking.”
I received the following from the seller:
“You are trying to unlock bootloader which is completely different thing and that’s a software which you are not supposed to play with because it can brick your phone.”
I’ll try SunShine but am not optimistic as the documentation implies limited support.
So as I need to enter the Device ID to determine whether the phone’s bootloader can be unlocked how do I know whether the bootloader can be unlocked without purchasing a phone?
I realize I’m probably doing something wrong but don’t see it.
I’ve loaded /e/OS on a different phone but it arrived fully unlocked. As the XT2113-5 is listed as eligible for unlocking I assumed the problem was with the seller’s unlocking. However, I realize en-us-support.motorola.com has nothing to do with the seller’s unlocking. Is there something unique to the phone? I’ve installed a SIM and the phone works well with my network.
