Motorola XT2113-5 Preflash validation failed - /e/OS 2.4.1

I’m attempting to install /e/OS 2.4.1 on a Motorola XT2113-5. Executing ‘fastboot devices’ returns ‘ZF6525WRML fastboot.’

However, ‘fastboot flash recovery recovery-e-2.4.1-t-20241010439852-community-kiev.img’ returns:

Sending ‘recovery_a’ (102400 KB) OKAY [ 2.139s]
Writing ‘recovery_a’ (bootloader) Preflash verification failed
FAILED (remote: ‘’)
fastboot: error: Command failed

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

it is an A/B device, try :

I believe the problem is the phone is not unlocked. I bought the phone advertised as unlocked and assumed such. However, I saw OEM unlocking wasn’t enabled in System/Developer options. But after enabled that the phone didn’t boot as unlocked.

Unfortunately, after generating the Device ID string I received ‘Your device does not quality for bootloader unlocking.’

Back to square one. I’ll contact the seller.

Yeah ! “carrier unlocked” …

.

In documentation Install /e/OS on a Motorola Moto G 5G / Motorola One 5G Ace - “kiev” you can read :

  1. Now type the following command to get the bootloader status:
 fastboot oem get_unlock_data

Tip: Some newer Motorola devices have a waiting period before you can enable OEM Unlock option in the developer options. It can sometimes take up to one week.

  1. Follow the instructions at Motorola Support to unlock your bootloader.
  2. Since the device resets completely, you will need to re-enable USB debugging to continue.

Tip: If your device is not supported by the Motorola Bootloader Unlock website, you may be able to use an alternative bootloader unlock method like SunShine, though they only support some devices/firmwares.

I followed the documentation referenced which is how I received “Your device does not quality for bootloader unlocking.”

I received the following from the seller:

“You are trying to unlock bootloader which is completely different thing and that’s a software which you are not supposed to play with because it can brick your phone.”

I’ll try SunShine but am not optimistic as the documentation implies limited support.

So as I need to enter the Device ID to determine whether the phone’s bootloader can be unlocked how do I know whether the bootloader can be unlocked without purchasing a phone?

I should mention I checked the Devices List prior to purchasing and the XT2113-5 is listed.

I’ll generate the Device ID again. Perhaps I entered it wrong or made another error.

I duplicated my steps of yesterday and again receive “Your device does not quality for bootloader unlocking.”

The output from ‘fastboot oem get_unlock_data’ is:

(bootloader) Unlock data:
(bootloader) 3A45592902253433#5A463635323557
(bootloader) 524D4C006D6F746F726F6C0000#A2D7
(bootloader) 9AF10E754718241034694FDC3067E9A
(bootloader) 6AE21#9D5900FF00000000000000000
(bootloader) 0000000
OKAY [ 0.012s]
Finished. Total time: 0.012s

Using that I pasted the following into the Device ID field:

3A45592902253433#5A463635323557524D4C006D6F746F726F6C0000#A2D79AF10E754718241034694FDC3067E9A6AE21#9D5900FF000000000000000000000000

I realize I’m probably doing something wrong but don’t see it.

I’ve loaded /e/OS on a different phone but it arrived fully unlocked. As the XT2113-5 is listed as eligible for unlocking I assumed the problem was with the seller’s unlocking. However, I realize en-us-support.motorola.com has nothing to do with the seller’s unlocking. Is there something unique to the phone? I’ve installed a SIM and the phone works well with my network.

i don’t own a Motorola Account to check the full process…

maybe another user in this forum can.

.

on their site, they say :

There are certain restrictions such as carrier exclusive models (ex. Verizon, AT&T, Tracfone)

.

can you return it to the sellers ?
