Murena Mobile disaster, please helpfai

I will say this again in case anyone else is attempting a port.

To port a device properly (at least here in Canada) you do not contact your current provider, the new provider does that for you. Do not cancel the current provider services.

Now contact the new provider and ask them to port your number to their system. Until that is done you have your current provider.

I actually made the mistake of cancelling the current provider first, that way the new provider had no service to port. Once I reinstated my old service the new providers was able to port my account.

Hope this helps someone.

Edit: In my case I was porting my old landline service to a cellular service and it worked. This was when I started using my first eOS phone. Later I was unhappy with my cellular provider and went to the “other” provider with my identification. They gave me a temporary SIM and a day or so later I got my new sim with the old number. So I still have my original land line number that I have had for 35 some years.
