Music app for Nextcloud

Hi all.

Is there a Music app that can play music from Nextcloud, either /e/-Nextcloud or own hosted?
Or can the build in Music app do that ?

I am aware of CloudBeats myself.
However, that is an paid app (and I paid for it in the iOS version) but I don’t know how to use paid apps with /e/ without the Google Play Store, and I have no intention in using that.

So ideally a open source alternative is what I am looking for.

I guess any music app with WebDav support could work.

Does anyone know a Music app that can access WebDav folders?

You don’t necessarily need to use webdav. If you are able to install
apps on your Nextcloud instance, you can install the Nextcloud Music App
(https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/music). That supports the subsonic and
ampache protocols which are designed for music streaming. There’s
several android apps you can use that support these protocols. I
personally use Audinaut, which is available in F-Droid. It’s very simple
in use and has a spotify-style offline caching feature which I really
like.

Thanks :grinning:. That works.

Here are the steps to get it working for me:

  • Set up the Music app in the Nextcloud store
  • Assign your music folder in the settings, let the app scan your music and test that it works from the browser.
  • Install Aufinaut from F-Droid or the /e/ app store
  • In the Audinaut server settings add a new server and use the subsonic link from the Nextcloud-Music settings as server.
  • Create an app password in the Nextcloud- Music app settings and use that for login
  • I had to turn off the setting for Authentication Method
  • Test the connection, it should work
  • Last step, in the main menu choose your nextcloud server

After that your music should be available in the Audinaut app and it feels much quicker than access via WebDav. Super solution.

Next step is maybe to explore some other apps, but in the moment this works fine.
