Navionics boating app cannot connect to gps

Navionics boating app cannot “see” the gps.
Asks to enable gps while it is enabled.
Fairphone 5
2.9-t-20250321478215-official-FP5
Magicearth has no problem accessing the gps
Anyone got a fix?

Update to 3.0.1 didnt help

check if this is enabled:
Settings → Apps → Navionics → Permissions → Location → use exact location [x]
