NC app passwords

Hello!

I have been off here for a while, I had to click on a hidden checkbox to activate the nextcloud app sync, seemly because of the downtime last year.

So I was wondering, could there be something like that to make the NC app passwords work? I know I used them quite a lot in the past, and I just ordered a murena phone, the notifications for the delivery are going to my murena email, so I wanted to get it set up in my non-de-googled phone

Weird enough using the regular password in the thunderbird app works, but the NC app pass does not, after a few attemtps the regular password also doesn’t work, I guess my ip or something got temporary blocked to avoid brute force.

I was not able to send the above because my home ip got banned, it has been already like 12h so maybe it needs to be manually lifted? My murena username is different from this one, how can I give you the details?

In the meantime I will stop trying the nc app key thing I guess :slight_smile:

“app-passwords” do still work for me. Did you check that the used app passwords are still valid in settings/user/security?

it was never supposed to. The auth infra behind smtp/imap doesn’t speak to the nextcloud app-passwords. You need to use the main password for mail.

Well, thanks for pointing that out. Not sure why I seem to recall using it for mail, maybe it was only for other apps.

My ip seems to have been unblocked too, so everything clear.
