New Murena phone + SIM from previous phone

Have to stick with my current number/phone provider. Can I just take the SIM out of my old android phone and put it in the FP5? … just checking (Don’t need data from SIM, just a phone connection with provider.)

Hello @IanS, welcome to the /e/forum.

Of course Yes !
some carriers need APN to be entered manually for mms or data connextion to work,
But most works out of the box…

Sounds good, but what is APN? Sorry, when it comes to phones, I know nothing!

Access Point to Network or something
(where the phone connect to your provider’s servers)

With every new SIM you buy there should be documentation about it.

Bought recently from a MVNO and with the SIM there was APN instructions.

But this isn’t a new SIM! It was inserted in the shop when I got the phone years ago. I’m guessing this will be OK. If not, there must be a way of finding out what the APN is? I’ll find out soon enough - buying a FP5 next week.

That’s where I was going  your provider must have a documentation somwhere (usually online) where you can check the APN settings

Yes. I worry too much… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

also you can see the current APN settings if your old phone is an android one,
search for APN in android settings
