Hey!
I’ve got a new phone. My old one was synchronized with murena contacts account. On the web page I can see all my contacts with phone numbers etc…
On the new one I signed in to my murena account, I can see all my contacts in “contacts”, but no phone numbers!?!
look at the .vcf export from both murena web and the old phones Contacs app vcf export what the telephon number attribute look like, as in:
BEGIN:VCARD
N:;Example;;;
TEL;TYPE=cell:+123456789
END:VCARD
thank you
how can I export VCF from murena web?
the export from the old phone is:
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:4.0
N:xxxx;;;;
FN:yyyy
TEL;TYPE=CELL:tel:7474747474747
END:VCARD
BEGIN:VCARD... etc
looks fine. Are you sure you have contact sync enabled and those aren’t composite contacts coming from any installed messenger?
ok, I missed that.
BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:4.0
N:;Asistencia Total;;;
FN:Asistencia Total
TEL;TYPE=CELL:tel:727
UID:1749a1c9-fd68-4114-9deb-7c98f23357ed
REV;VALUE=DATE-TIME:20250702T105438Z
END:VCARD
indeed, it was 20h ago
(do I really have to wait 30mn between two messages forever???)
Still nothing…
But I noticed something important:
Some month ago I copied all the contacts on my phone to murena.io contact account (by exporting vcf I guess). Then I told my phone to use the account instead of the phone for the new contacts.
I’ve just noticed that the ~10 contacts I’ve added since then have a phone number.
Well I don’t know what to do with that but maybe it helps to find how to recuperate the numbers.
if you say you can see phone numbers with most contacts in the web-based address book at murena.io -
- are you subscribed to that address book in your new device?
- have it set in Contacts app as primary and visible?
Android handling of contacts can be non-intuitive as it aggregates contact data on one identifier from multiple sources, addressbooks and Apps.
You can also check the old phone, install Fossify Contacts that will more easily show where a contacts attribute (tel:) originates from, see this post.
I signed in to my murena account where all my contacts are present with phone numbers. Again, I see all my contacts on the phone, but phone numbers are empty…
in account: Contacts (...@murena.io + Q), sync for all elements, synchronized
contacts to display: all the contact
anything else to setup?
News!
a new account just appeared (I did nothing):
name@murena.io
beside
Contacts (name@murena.io + Q)
But still no phone numbers in the contacts
A also had these two accounts on my old phone.
as said, I’d use Fossify Contacts on the old phone to see where the phone number is stored at for old entries, then follow that and make sure new phone has that addressbook.
If the new phone already subscribes to that carddav that supposedly should have the numbers, I can only think of a vcf labeling issue, but no idea how it came about if only working with default apps before. Sorry tricky case
I used Fossify to export all the contact stored on my old phone (not on the account).
I imported them to the new (device storage). Still no phone numbers…
I’ve just noticed on the old phone: if I select the contacts view only the from the account, it is the same story: no phone numbers.
But I ensure on the web they exist!
but what did Fossify display about the data origin of numbers on the old phone?
This time it was my mistake: I exported and imported the account list of contacts. The old device vcf importation worked on the new phone.
But now I have two entries for each contacts. How can I select all to erase them and reimport them?
I’m not sure what you mean by “data origin”. It says “DEVICE” or "Contacts (name@murena.io + Q)
it doesn’t show two origins on a contact? (it will not label each attributes origin sadly). This is what a aggregate will look like in Fossify and the default app:
(123456789 is carddav murena, 55555555 is DEVICE)
nope, they are not linked. If I show both account and device contacts, I have 4 entries for each contact: 2 on the device and 2 on the account ( because I imported two times the vcf)
I had the same issue only Weeks ago with my nextcloud. Try to login to murena cloud and edit the phone number of a contact the number is missing. If there is “tel: +12355” delete the “tel:” and save. Synchronise again and look if this contact has a number now.
uh, this here?
Yes, that looks like my issue and Ehen i am interpreting the exports above right it is the Sams issue with “tel:” as part of the number, which follows in not displaying it.
