Newpipe hangs and restarts phone when downloading video

Samsung Galaxy S7 with /e/OS 1.0

Newpipe plays back media fine but whenever I download a video onto my phone for offline watching, the app crashes and the phone restarts immediately.

How can I supply more information to hunt this bug?
