Nintendo Music app crashes on login

I installed the Nintendo Music app through the official /e/OS app store and:

  • it installed fine
  • it starts
  • I was directed to log in through the browser and that worked fine (and it seems it remembers the login)

But then after log-in, it crashes. Every time.

Did anyone get it running?

By pure chance, my wife installed Nintento Music today. Because AppLounge was down, she did it via Aurora Store.

Everything works without a hitch.

She has a Fairphone 4 (2.4.1. Stable). The bootloader has been re-locked. The device was purchased from the Murena Store in September 2022.

Advanced Privacy is on, only for application trackers.

I don’t know if this information can help…

Odd. Mine is a Fairphone 3+, also bought from Murena Store.

I might try it again through Aurora, thanks.

Odder still, it actually works when installed from Aurora Store. Thanks!

Aaaaaand it’s crashing again. No clue why, I did not do update or install anything since.

It can be a lot of things in fact… Maybe try to disable advanced pricacy on this app, then clear cache and data, then try again.
Possibly a future update may solve the problem.

Hi ! I have the exact same issue with my Fairphone 4, I do not know if it is locked though. It also did work once for me after some fails before crashing again…

This issue has been acknowledged by Nintendo : https://support.m.nintendo.com/hc/en-us/articles/11127097267471--Android-The-application-does-not-start-properly

Apprently, this happens to other microG users : https://www.reddit.com/r/MicroG/comments/1ggedac/need_data_nintendo_music_crashes_after_login/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/nintendohelp/comments/1gg8xft/nintendo_music_crashing_on_startup/

But, it also seems to be happening to non-microG users : https://www.reddit.com/r/casualnintendo/comments/1gh0z7v/has_anyone_had_problems_with_nintendo_music/ (in the comments, multiple people on “legit” Android encounter the same issue)

I’d advise reporting all this to Nintendo since they seem to take it seriously, but if it happens to be a microG issue, we might be stuck :/. Although since it doesn’t crash for @stanwood, there might be some light out of the tunnel.

Oh, forgot to add another detail : After it worked once, I downloaded some songs, and, when it began crashing again, I could still access it offline ! But, as soon as I put the internet back it’d crash again. (Unfortunately, since I tried reinstalling the app, I’ve lost everything T-T). This isn’t related to a specific connection, it crashes with different WiFis, on the 5G network, with and without a VPN, with or without Advanced Privacy, etc…

(Btw, is it possible to unsolve the thread ?)

Just did so. Thanks for the tip.

On the topic of the actual bug, reporting it to Nintendo seems to be a good idea, yes.

Also while turning off the Advanced Privacy did not help against the crashes, it might help with fixing the issue, since the only(?) tracker is about bug/crash stuff, so Nintendo can see all the crashes.

Update 1.0.1 just seemed to solve this ^^ ! Huge thanks to nintendo not to block /e/OS <3 !
