No mobile network after flashing Fairphone OS

I am trying to get Fairphone OS with Android 15 (previously tried the Android 14 flash before the update) onto my Fairphone 4 that come pre-loaded with /e/OS. I have run into the problem that once the os is flashed and the phone turns back on, it won’t connect to my mobile network (Mint). I have tried every troubleshooting thing I can think of (reflashing the os, making sure to lock bootloader before first boot, setting up the APN manually, factory reset, getting a new SIM card from Mint, etc). The only thing that has worked to restore connectivity has been reinstalling /e/OS, which is fine if I just want a phone that can call or text but I have a lot of apps I need to use on a daily basis that don’t work on /e/OS anymore because of the lack of Google Play Services. For further information, I am in the US and bought my phone from Murena.

So, if anyone has encountered this same issue switching from /e/OS to Fairphone OS and/or knows how to fix it, please help.

You seem to have already tried all the obvious things.

For clarity, reinstall (which usually would be same expected result as Factory reset) does restore mobile data ??

So it is as if something happens “Next” to disturb mobile data, is that the case?

Is mobile data restored in Safe mode. That is Press Power (off) button > Long press Power off icon?

Of course apps with a true dependency on Google Play Services may be problematic if the implementation of micro-G cannot handle all that is required by the specific app.

I suggest one really needs to address this app by app

  • to see if there are alternatives
  • or how one can survive without Google.
