On e/os 3.0.4 on a Fairphone 6 I’m experiencing what looks like a possible bug. But hopefully someone has an insight about it.
When a Bluetooth headset is connected(tried sony and shokz) there is no ringtone played. Not on the headphone nor on the speaker. Vibrate is working, but it’s easy to miss a call this way,
Music and sound from a website or app are fine.
An easy way to reproduce is to connect the headphone and go to settings → sound and vibration, and try to select a ringtone. The normal preview is not heard, I checked the volume settings.
After disconnecting the Bluetooth device the ringtones play like normal again.
I made a related case years ago, the behavior I describe was a bit different but similar. Then the case “showed no activity for a while”, so it has been closed.
I have encountered this problem, too:
I bought a Fairphone 6 with /e/OS preinstalled. Current OS Version: 3.0.4-a15-20250708507307-official-FP6
When my bluetooth headset (Sony) or my bluetooth box (Wonderboom 2) is connected, I can’t hear alarm sounds, timer sounds nor ringtone for phone calls.
I checked the sound volumes: All four volumes are set to 50%.
Music plays well via bluetooth. And the alarm sounds, timer sounds and ringtone sounds work well, if no bluetooth device is connected.
This is a severe problem for me: I go to work by train. During my train ride, I listen to music and sleep a little bit. The alarm sound is supposed to wake me up, so I don’t miss my train stop!
This works well on my Fairphone 3 with /e/OS 3.0.4-t-20250709507786-official-FP3 (thanks for supporting this device that long!)
But it fails on my new Fairphone 6 with /e/OS. I would appreciate any help or tips.
Does somebody know alternate “timer” and “alarm” apps to be used as workaround?
create rule:
2.1. add trigger: entering time frame 08:00 till 08:05
2.2. add action: pause media player
2.3. add action: play sound ‘/path/to/my/wakeupsound.m4a’
After changing the time trigger you have to restart the automation service: Switch “off” and “on” on the main screen.
I am having the same problem. If you are relying on hearing aids this is especially bad. It makes this setup unusable since you do not even hear the ringtone over your headphones.
I would mark this jug as critical because of this. It‘s impossible to drive this setup, because every call ends up missed.
I have the same issue.
It would be wise if everyone in this thread uses the above mentioned GitLab bug report to voice that they are also experiencing this issue. This will help to ensure that the bug gets assigned the right priority.
It really is a bummer that this is not getting any reaction. I wonder if this is a general e/os problem for all devices or if it is a problem with firmware/drivers on the FP6.
If it’s the latter; maybe this request/report should go out to the guys at fairphone as well?
