On the FP5 I do not have this problem, on the other hand I do not use it because it is not a VPN, it is the name given, but it is simply a navigation via TOR (that you are not properly protected and you can be found without big difficulty).
The best will be to go through a VPN which in addition offers the tunnel via Tor.
No other VPN active via some other app that uses the VPN- interface of the device, right?
That makes complete sense because the VPN-interface of the device is not used by AP as long as the specific VPN that AP establishes (and needs) in order to hide your IP (via TOR-network) is OFF (pic 1).
Also: the fake my location function of AP is independent from hide my IP (and does not rely on TOR) - TOR exit (thus IP) in say Belfast would not automatically mean fake-location showing Belfast as well.
