Notification of email server certificate error, possibly an attack

Having invalid email certificate notification. States it can be an attack. What is happening?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the unGoogled mobile OS and online services

Not an attack, the message is valid, if you login to “murena.io”, and then login to the email app, it’ll fail with:

Can't connect to server

Server message: Can't connect to host "ssl://mail.ecloud.global:993"

On FairEmail under LOS I’m getting:

Untrusted CN=mail.ecloud.global ... Certificate expired at Fri Jun 12 ... 2026

And on Thunderbird under Artix gnu+linux:

The certificate for mail.ecloud.global expired on 6/12/2026

@Manoj could you please help renew the Mail certificate again? Not long enough the mail cert expired, not sure if there could be a reminder about cert expiration that can be created for the admins to realize about the expiration and avoid letting expire and affect the Mail service.

BTW, this should have been posted on the cloud forum instead, but oh well…

Thanks a lot !

Me also. Same certificate. Same message.

I do love that I can come here and see that others are having the same issue and it is already known and being handled. I love efoundation. Next step is to accept BTC payments on lightning network so I can finally upgrade and pay for the service.

I won’t go near Bitcoin as it funds Fentanyl drug pushers. I won’t touch any Crypto currency.

Also not working in murena workspace on FP6:

Why the Cloud Forum? I use the default email app (fork of K-9 mail). I only use murena workspace to view older emails.

I added ‘suspected attack’ as that is what the first screen stated as a possibility but did not screenshot it as it contained personal info.

Thank you. Waiting for a fix

The issue should have been resolved now.

Just an aside, it would be nice to be able to move to a @murena.io address. I have had numerous issues with various sites stating “please enter a valid email address”.

Perversely, Nectar card where you collect points for cash spend accepts @e.email addresses, Argos owned by the same company that owns Nectar, Sainsbury’s does not, but they send me adverts to my email address and when clicking on link to promotions the link fails.

@Manoj Hi, good job. Can confirm is now working.

Thanks a lot @Manoj ! Please consider notifying the admins to think about ways to prevent such certs expirations in the future, that would be most appreciated. Thanks again !
