Official models not backed by LineageOS?

Lately I have been making an overview of /e/OS and LineageOS devices as a quick reference when stumbling upon a device at a garage sale or online marketplace.

While doing so, it struck me that many of the Official devices don’t have a LOS counterpart. For example: Gigaset GS290, CMF Phone 1, Shiftphone 8 and Teracube 2e & 2s.

Is this maintainable and shouldn’t it be better for the FOSS community if there would be created a LOS-version prior to /e/OS if Murena decides to include a device in it’s portfolio dat is not (yet) supported by Lineage?

I think the middle ground for the community is xda more than LineageOS, it has less governance.

LOS introduced tooling and structure to even enable something like /e/OS, but /e/OS devs would need to submit to the lineage charter device requirements to be able to offer a port under LOS.

I don’t think they always meet that doc for every device (prebuilt kernels being one example).
