Official vs Community Build on FP6

Hello
I am going to buy a FP6, not to Murena directly but to a specific shop, because I have a credit note
I would like to install e/OS on it. But according to the install instructions, I will be eligible to the community build only

I would like to ask, please:

  1. is there a significant difference between builds ?
  2. if there is, is it possible to pay to Murena a kind of subscription, to get the official one ?

Thank you for your answer,

Thomas

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online servicesphone

There is no “eligibility” bar, the install page Install /e/OS on a Fairphone The Fairphone (Gen. 6) - “FP6” offers both of the Different Build Types

thank you for noticing it to me @aibd
Actuallyn the guide is misleading (probably not up to date)

thanks again
T.

You will no be eligible to receive support by Murena staff if you have an issue, that would be the benefit of having to buy a device directly with ‘official’ build. But as aibd has stated, anyone can install ‘official’ on his device if available.

If you need help you can ask here on the forum as you did before.

Thank you for this precision @mihi

Hello
I would like to add a question, please
The installation guide of e/OS specify we have to care about security patch level before installation, to avoid triggering the anti-rollback feature and bricking the phone,

However, on another OS (Ubuntu Touch) the installation guide ask to install a former version of Android before installing Ubuntu Touch

But it specifies not to lock the bootloader

So, is the only risk at locking the bootloader. And if the booloader remains unlocked, there is no risk of bricking ?

Thank you for you answers

Thomas

In this post are copied the full warning and examples (answered) Install /e/ on FP5 with newer Security Patches - #2 by aibd.

You are right when you say that it is locking the bootloader which poses the hazard. But best to fully read and understand yourself.

Thank you @aibd
Indeed I havent search for your other post, sorry for that
Thanks again
