Does eCloud delete old calendar events? I noticed anything older than a few months is gone. Is there a way to change that setting?
Do you mean that eCloud delete your events on its server or that you don’t see them on your device app? After your post, I saw that my Simple calendar app was settled to remove older event, but I still find them in the eCloud.
I can see event for 2020, January in my /e/ Cloud calendar.

Yes, I still see them in eCloud. It just doesn’t show them in the calendar. I didn’t find a setting for that, but that’s ok.
Also after change setting in Simple calendar
and try to restart the app (install another time) I still can’t see them, like you wrote.
What calendar app have you?
I use the default preinstalled /e/ calendar app.
