Can I run the Dexcom and Omnipod apps on a Fairphone with /e/OS?
I’m interested in using more open and repairable devices, like the Fairphone and /e/OS. There are two things that worry me. First: tap to pay, but it looks like Curve can be a solution.
Second, there are the apps I use for my type 1 diabetes. There are two: the app for the Dexcom CGM (constant glucose monitor) and the app for the Omnipod insulin pump.
Both check which phone the user is running the app on. Dexcom works with many phones, but not the Fairphone < https://www.dexcom.com/compatibility/g7 >. The Omnipod works very few devices. It does not work with my current phone, the Pixel 8a < Omnipod® 5 Smartphone Compatibility | Omnipod >. You can install the Omnipod app from an APK, but it will check which phone you’re using when it starts and if it’s not on the approved list, it will stop right there. I tried editing the smali code in the app, but even when it bypasses the original check, it refuses to start.
Is there something in /e/OS that would allow its host device to run the app?
