Options for push notification system

Hi all,
@GaelDuval twitted about what open source push notification systems are available to build a large infrastructure and use with web apps - any ideas from anyone?


I presume that web apps use the Web Push API: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Push_API
But I presume that the backend infrastructure that serves this could be anything, so long as it uses the API properly.
