OsmAnd recent experience?

Hei, has anyone recent experience with OsmAnd mapApp, I just bought Fairphone 6 with e/OS, and would really like to keep OsmAnd. All topics about OsmAnd are several years old.

Hi @MaDalton,

I bought OSMAnd+ a long time ago (2017) in the Android Play Store when it cost 3,59 €. Today 69,99 :scream:
I was able to install it on my FP6 on e/OS and get back the license.
It works fine.

thanks, I hope “getting back the licence” is easy, cause I don’t know how. But if I get into trouble, I will ask yoh here again.

a new Maps App is awaited with /e/ v4.0

You must be connected in App Loundge with the Google Account you used to bougth the licence before downloading the application.

If you have paid before, you have done your part.
Just install OsmAnd~ now, it’s the same unrestricted OsmAnd+ the OsmAnd developers release via F-Droid for free without needing a license.

https://f-droid.org/packages/net.osmand.plus/

(Should be available in App Lounge, too, as App Lounge includes the F-Droid catalog.)

Thanks, I am a mountaineer, so I need maps with nature, mountaintrails etc not cities or urban areas, does Murena map have that?

wow, I am new, and I am over 60…so I have no idea what most of the words mean, but I will try to figure it out. Thanks

App Lounge is where you can install Apps in /e/OS by default, just search for OsmAnd~ there (the tilde is important).

yes, I know that much , thanks, and I will try your link!

How do you know it ships with 4.0?

In OsmAnd settings, tap “Configure Map” and choose the route overlays you need: cycling, hiking, skiing, horse riding, whitewater sports, dirt biking, climbing, fitness, running.

(Remember that all this is crowdsourced - to which you yourself can contribute - so areas may be missing or incomplete.)

I use it regularly for navigation when traveling, either by car or on foot. It works well for me, with voice prompts, too.

I don’t have a need to see every business or building along the way, though, as users of surveillance-capitalism map applications might be used to.

why release a v4.0 if not improved by new features ?
