OTA restored for Fairphone 3

Hello !

I saw today that by the recent announcement that the OTA for Fairphone 3 was restored . I was thrilled to install the latest version of e/OS but when I go “Programme de mise à jour” (it’s French which roughly means ‘updater’), I have a ‘no update avalaible’ message… Why ?

A precision : my poor Fairphone 3, stayed on 0.23-20220406176461 (Android 9) since 2022, because OTA updates were broken. Is this the reason why I can’t make the OTA update ?

Thanks to all who will help !

Your version is too old and even that one which can’t be update because Fairphone has changed encryption.

For the clean install you can check installation guide or check other peoples posts with 0.23. There is plenty. Please make a backup to restore afterwards

Thanks, that’s clear !!

Are you on dev or stable branch ?

If stable, and you want to keep your data.
you can try to first upgrade to android Q, then R, then S, then finaly T …

From the recovery mode, use those files :

Ah OK. I am on the stable branch. Your solution is very interesting. I would like to try it but since I am a very basic user, I am not sure I can work it out… Someone advised to use the Easy Installer. Is it possible to jump to from 0.23 stable version to 2.9 ? If yes, I know that all my data will be lost… Maybe is there an easy way to backup and restore it afterwards ?

Not what most people have in mind when they think “easy”, but here’s a guide … How to Backup and Restore an /e/OS phone

Thanks for the link ! The procedure is long indeed but I thought it would be worse. I’ll dot that.
