Hi, I have a phone based on MediaTek MT6739, 4GB RAM, and I’m looking for a senior dev to handle building a custom firmware.

The Project: Need a custom /e/OS build. Want a very, very specific “Digital Detox” phone, so also blocking specific social apps and browsers at the system level. I have the hardware in hand and can ship.

Is it even possible with MediaTek. I heard sometimes it is a closed source…

MediaTek does more kernel upstreaming to the kernel than in the past. Smaller team than qualcomm but they used to pay Collabora for it, mostly because of Chromebooks. Imo people not finding a device build should test a GSI, it’s an increasingly solved problem

Spot on. Since this is an Android 11 ODM unit, I am assuming a GSI build is the fastest route. The bounty is really to take that GSI from ‘it boots’ to ‘full stability’ (VoLTE, Cameras, Hall Sensor for the flip hinge, etc.)
