Parkrun 5k app will not open - keep getting update message

Hi

I have another app related query that I hope someone can help with as can’t find an answer

I have a Fairphone 5 running murena e/os that is updated to latest version 4.4.1

I have the parkrun 5K app installed however am unable to get it to open.

https://www.parkrun.com/app/

When I open app and input my parkrun ID & click on sign-in button a message pops up stating:

“We’ve noticed you are using an older version of the app. To keep using the app…..please take a moment to update”

  • I have tried to update with no luck,
  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app from App Lounge to ensure I have latest version and message still appears
  • I have cleared storage and cache and still message appears
  • I have done all of the above then done shutdowns and restarts and message still appears

The app used to open and work when I first installed it about a year ago but clearly something has changed.

So as I am on latest version of app I am confused as to why it continues to think it is not the latest version.

Anyone else use the 5K app on Fairphone with e/os (murena) and does it work?

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online services

Same problem occurs on my Sony Xperia 10 V running LineageOS for microG, and on my wife’s phone running official LineageOS with GApps. So it is not specific to /e/OS and it;s not to do with microG. Maybe the app doesn’t like custom ROMs, or maybe the just released a broken version of the app

Thanks for the response - good to hear that I am not alone with this problem. Hard to know what the source of the problem is. Hopefully others may have a potential solution
