Phone becoming unstable

My Samsung is becoming rather unstable. Several apps are not responding and error messages warning that the app has stopped working - eg Vivaldi web browser. Sometimes it will not turn off unexpectedly and sometimes it freezes and the screen goes blank even though at least half charged. Not sure if this could be due to recent updates of which there have been several. I think I can make a backup, snapshot or image of my phone’s OS to restore, where can I find instructions on how to do this - just in case - I do not have any important personal data on it, so that is not an issue. I do have an SD card in the phone.

Reboot in recovery and use TWRP backup and store it on your external SD.
The restore will only work on same device and Android rom
