Phone call volume low

Hello,

device: FP4 on e/OS 4

Too low maximum volume on call speaker were often reported by FP4 users. After having updated to e/OS 4, I was hoping the problem will be solved. Unfortunately max volume is far too low to make a normal conversation. And yes I set all speakers to max, but die not help!

Please search the forum. There are already at least 3-4 threads on this. Unfortunately, it likely won’t be resolved until version 4.2.

Hello, I know there already are lots of threads on this issue with the Fairphone 4;

I have it on the Fairphone 6 with 4.0-a15(…) and haven’t found a thread on that precise topic. Have I missed it or isn’t there one yet?

I saw that @msp mentionned the issue not being resolved until 4.2, would that be true for the FP6 as well (if you can tell)?

Hello @fedtho, many people use a FP6 with /e/OS since this device became available. It seems that you are the first one to report this issue for this device.

Did you buy your device with /e/OS already installed or did you install the /e/OS system yourself?
Have you been experiencing this problem since you got it, or is it after a system upgrade?
Does the problem occur only when you are listening to a phone conversation with the loudspeaker or in any case, for example when you are listening to music or with an application like WhatsApp?

I bought the FP6 with e/OS installed, that was sometime in last June or July.
I made an update out of the box and then, when I started using the phone, the speaker volume was low right away, I believe.
Listening to videos works fine, from YouTube or, in WhatsApp. Sounds recorded by myself (with the recorder app) are not very loud but I’m less sure about that and will gladly test it some more if required.
I’m currently on 4.0-a1520260610.
Just today I’m offered to update to 4.1.1 . I’ll wait for your reply before proceeding with it - although there might be improvement with that obviously.

This thread is about the FP4 - not the FP6.
