Overall i am happy with the experience and want to thank you all for the efforts.
With the lastes v4 i saw several feature to improve/be added, alas one feature I feel that needs attention to really become a “number 3” when it comes to smartphone systems, is the camera app.
I feel it is very useful to be able to advertise next to a back up feature, to also have a good camera app intergrated.
No extra app for portrait or landscape shots. No extra app to scan a qr code.
As much as I understand the challenge of this serving 250 plus smartphones, yet I feel for phones you sold or are selling, this is a must have feature.

I fully agree with your sentiment. With modern smartphones supporting multiple cameras our default OpenCamera app if found wanting in a quite a few areas.
The software of these cameras being mostly proprietary does not exactly help. In our internal team discussion, the requirement for a robust and well-integrated camera has always been one of the most common requests.
That being said we are limited by the fact that we can go for open-source applications only. We are actively looking for a good alternative camera app that will stand up to user expectations. All suggestions are welcome.

When speaking about cloud backup of phones…i think we can also request a stable first party e/os application in regards to cameras.
In my view it is essential to convince people to join the e/os movement, who are not 100% tech savy. My family is a great example. They understand all privacy aspects and yet would love to have one useful e/os camera app. If this Costs money…well…put it I to the monthly payment system of storage. Things that are good, cost money, rightfully so.
Hence…i pledge a dedicated e/os camera app for all phones sold or you sell now…is a key improvement. Fossy cam lags in many ways yet be it very simple and easy to use.
I have also some trouble with the camera app. Note that I am not a photograpy expert, but it is one of the app that I like to use mostly.
At first, you must know that I am using /e/os v4.0 on a OnePlus 7.
It is unclear to me if the camera app is using well all the lens. I can exchange, on the fly, between “Lens 0, 2 and 3” (I imagine that “1” is frontal camera), but not see a real difference betweeh 0 and 3… Unable to check wide angle lens ?
The other thing that annoys me is the translation : I don’t understand why there are so many options that are not translated in the app (I am French) !? This is not helping me to use the app, as some options have a long description. I thought that it is now easy to ask to any IA to translate sentences, why app developpers don’t use that ?
I try your proposal : Fossify camera. This is a nice and clean app, but didn’t see the way to make panoramic photos for example ! It is, at the end, very limited and not better than OpenCamera. It have only less options.
This is why I am thinking to buy a GS6. I hope that the hardware is better supported that on my OnePlus 7, that fill my needs in another hand. But it is a bit challenge as I am unable to find feedbacks about this particular point.
but that also does have translation, although maybe this would be easier to machine translate.
Regarding multiple lens there is this
If Settings/On screen GUI/“Multiple cameras icon” is disabled, then this icon will not show; instead the “Switch camera” icon can by used to cycle through all the cameras. Note that some other devices do not allow third party applications to access their multiple cameras at all, in which case Open Camera isn’t able to use them.
