Tried two times. Freezes after displaying “Google” . First switching back to slot a works fine, second time needed to recover, also works fine to go back to 4.3-beta.
Betas are test builds, right?
Hi @Micha57 welcome to the /e/ users forum even if this contribution is not welcome for all the reasons mentioned in the link above.
The feedback would be useful however in the Testing channel where this apparent defect has not yet been observed.
Thanks for above information. That explains why I didn’t found any entries regarding beta versions.
I faced the same behaviour with community build on Pixel 4 XL after update to 4.3.
The device stuck on the colorized Google text.
@Micha57 how did u switched to the working slot?
- Get adb and fastboot from developer.android.com and install on your pc.
- Enter fastboot mode by pressing power and volume down.
- Connect phone via usb to your pc.
- Run the following commands:
fastboot getvar current-slot (you either get a or b)
fastboot set_active x (where x is the other slot, either b or a)
fastboot reboot (that’s it!)
Thx a lot. I could change the slot.
Now the phones starts over the Google text logo and shows an laying android with open front & red ! mark.
That’s what I got too at my second try. Didn’t know how to continue and searched for more information. The phone was still powered and stayed in that mode. After ten or 15 minutes it automatically switched to the /e/ bootloader and I could start it. But I can’t remember if I’d had to select a special item or just rebooted the device. That’s all I can tell you. Good luck! Michael
Indeed, after some time & a reboot the phone started with the /e/ bootloader & the system starts successfully with the former build 4.2.
Thx 4 your help.
