Pixel 5 connectivity issues

Hello,

I purchased a refurbished Pixel 5 and installed e-os according to the instructions.

e-os is excellent and suits me perfectly. However, I have three issues that I don’t know if they’re due to the phone or e-os:

• The GSM network connection is unstable with Wi-Fi; it disconnects and reconnects;
• The GSM network connection is unstable (in some cases completely inoperable) with location tracking;
• It loses connection with the SIM card and asks me for the code again. It may ask me for it three times in one day, or once every two weeks;

Are there any settings to change in the configuration, or is the problem with the hardware?

Regards,
Pierre

As a test you might turn off all Advanced Privacy and check performance.

If general connectivity performance improves I suggest first to turn on Block app trackers (then experiment).

Hello,
I also installed E/OS on a refurbished Pixel 5 a year ago now, and I haven’t encountered this type of problem.
Before installing E/OS, I tested the phone with its Android version and checked with the Phyphox app to see if the hardware was working properly. This makes it easier to identify the source of any problems that may arise after installing a new OS.
In your case, I would start by reinstalling the SIM card after cleaning it. You never know.
Have a nice day.

Thanks for answering.

That was the first thing I tried, I ordered a new SIM card from my mobile network operator.

Also, i tried the aibd suggestion, I disabled all three Advance Privacy options. I still have the problem.

Could you tell us your version?

Have you considered a factory reset? Not sure if it will solve it but strange behaviours in the past have been solved by that

Here please find the e-os version :
3.0.4-a14-20250709507532-community-redfin.
I haven’t considered a factory reset, I will look at this.

The other thing you could do is to do a local update (in updater) to a15.

That might also help and you won’t lose data. Still it is good to have a backup. It should be common practice to have backups.

I did the following:

  1. local update to a15 : still issue, when using location then gsm is still unstable
  2. factory reset : At first glance there seems to be an improvement, but then a couple of hour after gsm become unstable with the location.

I find some phones after an update the mobile data is turned off. Settings> Network and internet> Internet> Your Provider setting: is Mobile Data turned ON?

Yes data are turned on.

I did the following :

  1. Install an esim → still the same issue
  2. Roll back to stock OS → still the same issue

I conclude that it is a hardware problem, I will return this phone to the seller.
