Pixel 8 which recovery image?

Hello, I am stuck locating the proper recovery image to flash (ver 2.6.3). The instrs say

Replace the recoveryfilename with the name of the recovery image you downloaded in the previous section

and I have tried the vendor_boot.img extracted from both .zips, but can't boot anything but bootloader once I do.

What am I doing wrong?

More basic information is needed to be able to judge this remotely:

  1. Which version of stock Android is installed?

  2. Which individual steps have you carried out until you have reached the current point?
