I have a fairphone 4, it has e/os on it, it works well, has everything i need on it and the battery (still the original 4 year old) lasts for approx 2 day.
No horror stories here.
just good news . . .
Just had to post something positive today to combat all the negativity out there.

My daily driver Fairphone on /e/OS Android 14 with a 2 TB SD card included (almost 50% full) runs flawlessly and smoother than another Fairphone I have here on Fairphone OS Android 13 with an almost empty internal storage. Bought a new battery last year, but in the meantime I came to the conclusion the original battery still does its job very well.
