Recently new to trying out /e/OS, and the very first thing I’m trying to get working is my ability to pay for public transit with my phone. I live in the Toronto, Canada area, and here we have a payment system called “Presto”. The way tap-to-pay with your phone normally seems to work with Presto is that you register a digital Presto card via the Presto app, then load that card into Google Wallet, which then handles the NFC transaction for you; I had all this set up on my previous Android phone just fine.
On /e/OS, I installed the Google Wallet app (Curve doesn’t seem to be available in Canada? And I wasn’t sure if it would work, anyway) and signed into my Google account with it, then I installed the Presto app (com.metrolinx.presto.android.consumerapp). I was able to log into my Presto account, but once I’m past the log-in screen, it seems to start spamming a toast that says “Card Adding to Wallet failed . Please try again later.” (that’s exactly as it appears, weird capitalization and unnecessary space before the period included) before eventually crashing out. The only option on the toast is “Yes” (which seems a little odd given the context), and if I’m quick and/or persistent, I’m able to get past the toast, but it eventually crashes a few seconds later anyway. Before the app crashes, nothing on the screen seems to respond to tap inputs except, somehow, the “Chat” button that lets you chat with a Virtual Assistant.
Does anyone have any recommendations for debugging this or getting it to work? It’s a pretty solid dealbreaker for /e/OS if I can’t get this to work. ![]()
If it’s helpful, the phone I’m using is a refurbished Google Pixel 8 that I installed /e/OS on via the /e/OS web installer linked here: Info about Google Pixel 8 - shiba
