Is there any way to create private (hidden and/or locked) photo folders in the gallery app? I’m in the process of migrating from an iphone, and my Hidden photo folder has accumulated quite a few pictures over the years.
Alternatively, if it needs to be done through the Files app, that’s fine, I just need to know.

A .nomedia can be used to tell other apps not to scan for media files in a folder.
I see. Perhaps I should make a feature request, in that case.

by default, on importing from the regular gallery, photos remain there. You’ll need to go to the settings to enable “delete (original) files after import”
