To be on the safe side, I used a Oneplus7 to test what works with eOS. As the only ‘emergency solution’, I had also installed android Auto (following the instructions in the forum), as this is to be used for my car. It also worked perfectly.
Now I have bought a Murena Pixel 7 based on the tests. Everything works fine, only google maps (for android auto) does not work. After installation, google maps asks for the google Play services to be installed (the map display remains blank).
My Oneplus 7 and the Pixel 7 have the same eOS version installed, but the Oneplus has the community version and the Pixel 7 has the official version.
What could be the difference?
It seems that some Google apps are no longer compatible with Micro-G since latest app updates.
There’s a topic here:
Can you use Magic Earth or another navigation app instead within Android Auto?

Magic Earth works well, only the mirroring on the car display does not work. But I can live with that.
I hope that the developers will soon find out what google has done again.
As a workaround, you could try downgrading Maps (and possibly Auto) to an older version. See the linked thread for more info.
