This is quite common with high-security apps like government IDs or banking apps when switching from stock Android to a custom ROM like /e/OS.

Here’s the likely reason:

  1. Security Checks (SafetyNet/Play Integrity): The “France Identité” app almost certainly uses Google’s security checks to ensure the phone’s software hasn’t been tampered with (like rooting or unlocking the bootloader) and is running an officially certified version of Android.

  2. /e/OS vs. Stock Android: Stock Android on your Fairphone passed these checks. /e/OS, being focused on privacy and de-Googling, often doesn’t pass these strict checks by default, even the official version. Installing /e/OS might have also involved unlocking the bootloader, which these apps detect as a security risk.

In short: The app thinks your phone is “not secure” because it’s running /e/OS instead of the Google-certified Android it expects.

Unfortunately, there’s often no easy fix, as it’s a security measure by the app developer. You might find discussions on /e/OS forums about potential workarounds, but these aren’t guaranteed and might break with app updates. For now, the app likely requires a Google-certified OS to run.

I am not sure it’s an e/os/ issue. I could configure france identite on my previous phone, all I got was the message about the chip being not secured. When I switched to pixel 5, it worked without an hitch.

hello
me to i configure france identite on my Pixel 5 with e/os and it works well.
