Questions about set up please

Hi! I just purchased the e.foundation machine and am anxious to try it out. I am confused about a few things. First, why is /e/ asking me to create an account? I see that there are apps that e provides, but do I need to set up an account to use the phone? Second, on the home page e says that e doesn’t look at your emails. Are they end-to-end encrypted like Tutanota or ProtonMail? If so, why don’t they say so? This question applies to all the other apps too, such as the cloud storage. What good is a private phone if you use apps that are not private and fully encrpyted?

Hi !

They say they don’t look at them (no human or automatic scanning, like Google do).

You can set up a PGP encryption, which is not provider or app dependent : it will work with any PGP-enabled email solution, as long as you share your public key with your correspondents of course
