Had an Fairphone 2 about 10 years ago but the camera was bad and i didnt like the Google stuff... But im thinking about giving it another try with the Fairphone 5 and e/Os by Murena.
I have a few questions before buying it and would really appreciate if anyone could help
Does Android Auto work with e/Os?
Did anyone ever try to use Fp5 with an Ethernetcable (in Flightmode)?
Any alternative to Apple Pay or Google Pay (that works in Germany)?
Anyone using the Murena Cloud with Fp5 and can share his/her experiences?
A quick internet search will lead you to Wero/the European Payments Initiative, which still is in an initial stage. Only bank transfers are possible, but the goal is a comprehensive digital payment service. So far, only a very small number of European banks have joined the program and its predecessor Giropay didnāt make it very far. Letās see how far they get this time. Personally, Iām more of a cash person anyway, it doesnāt send any data ā¦
I had already subscribed to 20 GB of Murena Cloud for my FP3 two years ago or so. At that time, I noticed that synchronization sometimes took a while to start. As the cloud has only recently become (almost) fully functional again, I canāt say much specifically about its use with the FP5, which I now own. However, I have noticed that synchronization is now much faster. A photo I had just taken was in the cloud in no time at all, whereas it used to take hours to be uploaded. But this may also be due to better cloud hardware or different default settings for synchronization intervals (which I never manually changed).
Does Android Auto work with e/Os?
I use Android Auto with Murena FP5.
I run it on a separate user with all required google apps installed. I had to turn on ātestā mode in Android Auto to enable apps like Spotify.
Not all apps work as in regular Android but Waze, Spotify, Google Maps, Tunein radio do work.
I didnāt test it since 2.8 upgrade so it might be better now ā¦
Aurora does a better job than App Lounge with Google Play. Iāve bought apps on Play Store with Aurora. You log into your google account with MicroG/Aurora and with a payment method setup on your Google account, you can pay for apps.
As far as NFC, thatās entirely different. Yes you need to have a āwalletā to use it, but installing Google Wallet and and logging into your Google account is going to defeat the point of /e/os privacy. Thatās true of any app where you remain logged into Google. I donāt use NFC so I donāt know, but there should be alternative app to Google Wallet.
Especially as my Fairphone freezes after just one day with every app.
I think the thing is broken somehow.
Iāve already rebooted several times today and one
factory reset behind me today, without any success.
If perhaps a faulty state of the OS is the cause of the issue, a factory reset would not fix this, as it doesnāt touch the OS at all (only deletes user-related stuff).
