Real Location leaked through Advanced Privacy

Hello Community

On two separate installations I have now noticed that Advanced Privacy > Geolocation is bypassed by Here We Go Maps. After installing the App from App Lounge, it immediately showed my real location, despite having set a specific fake location. When I move, the location updates infrequently (with a ~30s delay) but is always accurate to 1m. Once I allow Here We Go to see my real location, it updates live.

If Here We Go can bypass this feature, so can every other app too. I find this concerning, and would love to see if anyone else is noticing the same, maybe also with other Apps.

Thanks

Muro

I don’t know what Here we go maps is but I’ll certainly avoid it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just tried Mappy in both DuckDuckGo browser and e/os default Browser and both time my location indicated that I was in India.

Mappy works for France but I guess you could find other apps that would work for you.

https://wego.here.com/ it’s a European alternative to the big tech versions, I find HereWeGo can keep up with the big names in terms of accuracy for public transit and traffic information. And it seems to work so well that it can even bypass e/OS Advanced Privacy.
Is this forum not monitored by Murena? I would love to hear their take. For now I am planning to move to Graphene, Murena’s take on privacy seems more marketing than substance.
