Hello! I purchased my first Murena phone, a terracube 2s, in December. Within 3 months, the phone speakers stopped working, requiring me to use speakerphone all the time. Thankfully, I was able to obtain a new device. Unfortunately, Terracube sent me an older version of the Terracube (2e), which seems to function less well than the 2s in several respects.
I set up my the 2e device a few days ago. Already, there is a software malfunction that–quite remarkably–has the exact same result as the broken hardware. All calls immediately go to speakerphone, whether incoming or outgoing, and I am unable to turn the speakerphone off. I was able to fix by restarting the phone, but would also like to know what other troubleshoots are available.
Overall, need to say that I’m demoralized by this phone–which I was so excited about–has been so buggy. Finding this particular bug especially ironic because the phone I bought for privacy purposes is forcing me into taking sensitive calls on speakerphone. This is on top of a whole lot of issues with App Lounge on the 2e. If anyone has advice here, I would be very grateful.
There are two versions of the 2e, zirconia 2021 and emerald 2022. My first reaction is that this must be a mistake, it does not seem a reasonable exchange.
Clarifying: I’m specifically looking for advice on how to prevent the speakerphone issue going forward.
If helpful to add: I alreaded downloaded Aurora Store, but only knew to do so because I previously used CalyxOS. I’m just frustrated that an allegedly more accessible privacy-oriented smartphone would be so hard to set up for the average user.
I never encountered this issue on my phone. As @aibd mentioned: a) getting a 2e instead of 2s seems weird, I hope you got reimbursed! and b) since there are two versions of 2e, it would be useful to know which one it is (hopefully emerald).
Finally, which version of /e/OS is running on your phone? Could it be that you got an old version and did not upgrade?
It is emerald. It was pre-installed with 3.5, I am now updating to 3.6.
ok, I’ve never seen that issue on a Teracube so far, unfortunately, so hopefully the upgrade fixes it.
If not, I think you’d better just tell Teracube you want a new 2s back or a full reimbursement and go for another manufacturer with /e/OS support (e.g. Fairphone).
Usually phones with official builds are quite well supported so I would expect these are hardware issues rather than a software ones.
