Really slow wifi but fast mobile data

Hello,

I have a CMF 1 and I’m facing issue with really slow wifi only (using mobile network is fast)
I have tested the following:

  • made sure Fake geolocation and Hide IP Address are disabled
  • rebooted my device
  • tested other android phone and have no issue
  • reset wifi and BT settings
  • forgot network and added back
  • disabled mobile network
  • iperf test between router and device, looks good same as other devices
  • checked link speed in setting and looks good

Currently, hitting 2Mbps on speedtest and I’m using openwrt on my router

Any troubleshooting steps would be appreciated

Probably not your case but might be worth ruling out; I had a phone router / combination which failed to work nicely with Mobile data always active allowed in Developer options

Did you test if this occurs only on several apps or global?
I sometimes have the same issue on my FP4. But it seems, that only some Apps (F-Droid-Updates) are affected. This is so strange and specific, that I didn’t even try to find a solution yet.

Seems to be on every app
Slow on youtube, newpipe, fdroid, aurora, etc…

Is this only in one concrete wifi environment or generally in every wifi?

Might this be this fp4 issue Android shows active internet connection, but no apps have internet access - #8 by coco ??

Ok, tested on a different phone’s hotspot (only other wifi I had on hand) and speed looks good
Checked the wifi setting and one of the differences I noticed is my router uses wifi6 and the hotspot uses wifi4

Gonna try changing it on my router to see if that for some reason resolves it

OK, What…?
Changed my router to wifi5 and it works perfectly
And just to confirm I moved back to wifi6 and it was slow again

Anyone have an idea as to why?
It can’t be the router since all other devices work perfectly on it

I have many issues with my openwrt router. I think they have many device specific bugs. I can’t even configure a custom DNS running OpenWrt 24.10.2 - Service Release.
