I have searched the forums for “browser fingerprinting”, as I’m aware that this is a significant method of how we are tracked online
However…most of the relevant results are from 2024 and 2022. Things have moved on since then (the Mull browser hasn’t been updated in years, and it isn’t available any more )
Does anyone have any recommendations for Android browsers please?
Privacy Guides (which I already take with a spoonful of salt) recommends Brave, which…is a start, but still contributing to Chromium architecture dominating
Firefox calls home when opened. AFAIK, Arkenfox, Mullvad, and LibreWolf aren’t available on Android
Tor is good, but not everything works with Tor - and I don’t know if Tor on Android does browser containers
Fennec is probably the best choice. (Well, one of the better choices.)
Add your desired privacy extensions (uBlock Origin, NoScript, Privacy Badger, etc.) and adjust the browser settings to your liking.
Bonus: about:config works as in desktop Firefox.
Other degoogled OSes have degoogled Firefox-based browsers that you could probably get by enabling their repos in F-Droid. They might have even better default protection from Google than Fennec does.
Seems IronFox has been an open proposal to them since Jan. 2025 but they haven’t added it yet. (Maybe it doesn’t have enough support in the comments? I don’t know how they decide what to add.)
