I really like the e os its clean smooth running but I cannot relock the Bootloader to get rid of the startup screen warning (moto g4 play)?

Sadly I don’t think you can yet. But the e Foundation plans to add the ability to relock to bootloader. You will just have to be patient, it could be in 5 months or in 1 year or in 2 years. We don’t know.
For now, I think the only phone with the ability to have a locked bootloader with /e/ is the Fairphone 3.
